No-one knows for sure how many died in the snows and avalanches of November 9 and 10, but the official total is 63 dead, of whom 23 were foreigners. At the end of the month, the government's relief task force reported that 549 had been rescued. Two hundred ninety-nine were Nepalese and 250 were foreign nationals. Between November 11 and 16, helicopters rescued people from Gokyo, Na, Macherma, Gorak Shep, Lobuche, Pheriche, Langtang, Larkya, Manang, Samagaon, Hodku, Chukudga, Cholang, Dhunsa, and Pangma, as well as base camps on Kanchenjunga, Makalu, Everest, Manaslu and Dhaulagiri. Besides those who died in trekking parties and the avalanche in Bagarchaap, 12 Nepalese were reported dead in Humla, Chaurikharka, Ghorada, Dhampas, and Panchthar. (Rising Nepal, November 25)
